The big one...

The Big One - Version 2.0
After 6 months, a whole lot of late nights and long weekends.
I am pleased to announce Bearly Fit 2.0!
Version 2.0 is the first major release of Bearly Fit since launch and brings a lot of new features.
And a ton of improvements under the hood.
Life Logs
The community has been asking for Life logs since Day 1, and it’s something that I have wanted since the very start!
This was originally planned for the first release but, unfortunately I ran out of time.
So better late than never! I’m really excited to introduce Life Logs to Bearly Fit!
Life Logs enable you to track your weight, body comp, progress and other life events directly in the app!
You can even use notes and tags, making it really easy to organize and search through your life moments.
Progress Logs
Complimenting Exercise and Nutrition logs, Progress Logs let you track your vital body stats including:
Weight
Body fat
Lean mass
Chest
Arms
Legs
Tummy and more
You can even add a cute selfie letting you see easily how far you’ve come!
Don’t worry, just like the rest of your data it’s all stored securely on your device, no servers involved!
Other Life Logs
You’re not just limited to progress pics and body stats.
There are lots of things that impact our journey, and we want to keep track of.
Maybe you had a shit nights sleep or went out on the piss... that’s where Other Life Logs come in!
Enabling you to log things that don’t quite fit the mould!
Reports + Exports
Just like Exercise and Nutrition Logs, Life Logs wouldn’t be complete without the ability to compare and export your data.
You can compare up to a years worth of data directly from the activity section of the app, making it easy to see just how far you’ve come at a glance!
And, just like the other areas you can also export in CSV and JSON (subscribers)
Goals
Last but not least, Life logs wouldn’t be complete without being able to track them with Goals!
Goals have got a big overhaul this update, as well as adding the ability to easily set and track any body measurement you life, I’ve fixed the bugs people raised and improved the UI.
Body goals will always show as an interactive chart so you can follow your journey all the way :)
Revamped Reporting
Whilst I was building Life Logs, I decided to give the reporting section a big makeover too!
Reporting should now give you much deeper insight into your progress and your logs across workouts, body and nutrition.
Some highlights
UI got an overhaul
Added charts + graphs
Added Life Log Reports
Export Exercise, Nutrition And Life Logs in a single export
Performance improvements, especially on lower end devices
Quick Menu
Now that our log types are growing, I wanted to make an easy menu allowing you to quickly add from the home screen.
The items in this menu are completely configurable so don’t worry if you want them in a different order or don’t want them all
Over time, I hope this will become a global menu that you can access anywhere in the app.
Search Improvements
Search got smarter across the board.
Exercise search highlights exercises that match your search terms
It shows you when you last used an exercise.
And... the 5 most recent exercises will show at the top
These small improvements should make it easier to find exercises more naturally.
I also took it a step further and experiment with some basic natural language searching like “arms”, “recent”, or “cardio”.
This should make it much easier to find exercises you’re looking for.
I’ll keep improving search with each release :)
Under the Hood
For those who don’t know, the original release of Bearly Fit was an MVP Which was great for getting it in people’s
hands but made improving it very difficult.
With this release a huge amount of work has gone into the foundations of the app.
The entire database layer has been rewritten
The code base has undergone a huge restructure
Improved error handling,
Improved backup and restore
Improved startup speed
Performance has been improved across the board
I’ve also started building a full E2E test suite which will let me move faster and release with more confidence.
These changes don’t show up as features, but they make everything faster and more reliable.
They will also enable me to release faster and more frequently, so you can expect the next update in a few weeks!
Thanks for reading, if you don’t have the app yet you can download it here :)
And if you want to see even more changes that happened in this release - here you go!
